Subchondroplasty is a minimally invasive procedure that encourages the natural healing of bone marrow lesions (BMLs). Patients with chronic bone marrow lesions are more likely to require a total knee replacement. The goal of the subchondroplasty procedure is to heal the BMLs and preserve the joint.

During the procedure, your doctor will fill the BMLs with a biomimetic bone substitute material. The bone substitute material will be absorbed by the body and replaced with new bone growth. Dr. R. August Ritter, III, is an expert in the subchondroplasty procedure. For more information about subchrondroplasty or to find out if you may be a candidate, call (573) 335-7040 or complete the appointment request box to schedule an appointment with one of our joint replacement experts at Advanced Orthopedic Specialists.
