Shoulder & Elbow

Shoulder

The shoulder is comprised of the clavicle (collarbone), scapula (shoulder blade), and humerus (upper arm bone), as well as many muscles, ligaments, and tendons. We utilize our shoulders for both mobility and stability, including lifting, pushing, and pulling. The shoulder is a common source of aches and pains, often the result of repetitive motion used in sports, at work, or during other activities. Injuries and conditions associated with shoulder discomfort range from tendonitis, arthritis, and bursitis to fractures, rotator cuff injuries, and instabilities.

Elbow

The elbow is a joint that connects the humerus bone of the upper arm to the radius and ulna bones of the lower arm through a complex system of muscles, ligaments, and tendons. More than a simple hinge joint, the unique composition of these tissues allows for rotation. Elbow injuries come in many forms and can adversely affect people of all ages and lifestyles. Common elbow maladies include overuse injuries like tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, and tendonitis to diseases such as arthritis and cubital tunnel syndrome.

At Advanced Orthopedic Specialists, our shoulder and elbow physicians are recognized as leaders in the diagnosis and treatment for shoulder and elbow conditions. From common to complex injuries, they provide an individualized treatment plan dedicated to returning you to health and activity.
